Well, Donna, since you mentioned it, a dedication is in order. I'm not sure of the exact context of this particular recording but it's clearly not the released single. It's hard to project the later lives of the artists we lose early, but in listening to this performance I hear a lot of what Freddy Fender brought to his style. With that in mind it's clear that Richie Valens left a valuable legacy - all the more remarkable since he was limited to giving us so few samples.
